Area's First Mead Outlet Opens In Eustis

After months of planning and preparing, the area's first honey and mead-tasting lounge has opened.  Pinesmoke Bee Co. this week announced the formal opening of its location at 117 North Bay Street.
Pinesmoke is an Eustis-based beekeeping company that has become known in recent years for its regular presence at area markets and community events.  Known for its focus on education and hyper-local wildflower honeys, the company has been working on its first fixed-base retail operation for almost a year.
Pinesmoke Bee Co. is operated by T.J. Lawrence, Jason Gajentan, and Audra Montgomery.
The location has been completely redesigned and engineered to provide the basis for retail operations, educational programs, and a supply center.  A lounge area with sound-dampening ceiling tiles that evoke the image of a honeycomb is the featured space, with patrons invited to sample mead - also known as honey wine - in a relaxed, inviting space.
Introducing the public to meads is the focus of the retail space, and a broad selection is available, from traditional meads to fortified and session meads.  In addition, craft beers, wines, and seltzers are available.
Also, the location houses a variety of beekeeping supplies, bee-themed apparel, honey, and more.
Local mead makers are invited to bring their products to share with others.
The location is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-8 p.m., Thursdays 1-9 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 1-10:30 p.m.
