RV Resort Makes Donations To Community Projects

Residents of Umatilla’s Olde Mill Stream RV Resort celebrated a banner season of fundraising on Tuesday, and announced over $8,000 to area charities during the resort’s monthly resident meeting.  Hundreds of residents gathered for the occasion, as manager Wally Medley doled out the awards to four separate organizations.
Funds are raised at Olde Mill Stream from a variety of events, including a recent spaghetti dinner and a separate charity auction.  On Tuesday, the following donations were announced:
- $5,524 to the Umatilla Fire Department.  Department chief Shane Lanoue was on hand to accept a check that will allow the department to improve the environment at the department for volunteers, many of who serve as volunteers at Umatilla while off shift from full-time jobs.
- $2,000 to the Helping Hands Ministry at the First Baptist Church of Umatilla.  Will Hamer accepted on behalf of the ministry, and reported the program served over 39,000 people last year and distributed over 200,000 meals.
- $250 to Billie’s Kids.  Organizer Billie Burrell, who is an Olde Mill Stream resident, coordinates with area schools to support children in need.  Shoes, clothing, and other items of necessity are provided to children through the Billie’s Kids program.
- $250 to First Baptist Church of Umatilla Sewing Ministry.  Sylvia Ruble accepted the check for the group, which meets to provide a variety of sewn items to youth and adults.
